I list my gear because I get a lot of questions about my equipment. However, I will say that it is entirely possible to take awesome photos without expensive gear. I have bought all my lenses used at KEH. I highly recommend this route to save money, and I’ve been very happy with my purchases. I also highly recommend old manual lenses. My 135mm f2.8 I purchased for around $100, and it is the best lens I have ever owned for optical quality. I have not upgraded to the newest camera bodies either. Why bother? Mine takes fantastic photos, doesn’t eat through batteries, and I like the optical viewfinder.
Landscape Gear:
My pack is currently a Nikon 14-24 (the only zoom that has met my standards for optical quality), along with several very small, lightweight superb manual focus lenses. I am enjoying the creativity that comes from having primes, as they force me to find different compositions. Plus, my primes AND my prime filters all fit in a waist pack, which my back loves.

Wildlife Gear:
I am not shooting as much wildlife as I used to. It is my first love, and if I get the chance to capture animals, it makes me happy for ages, However, neck and back injuries make it very hard for me to hold heavy gear. I have added a couple of PF lenses, and the reduced weight does help quite a bit. A monopod with a gimbal head is an absolute must if you struggle with holding heavy equipment like me.
